'Follow the Sun' is an account of a journey through the Alps on skis from Austria to the Mediterranean Sea Buy direct from the Author/Publisher £17-95p inc UK p&p The Book is in full colour, all 180 pages of it (200×240mm). There are personal notes for the 52 days it took to complete the traverse. 22 route maps (1:100,000) cover the journey, each from 1 to 5 days, along with route descriptions, times and altitude gain. We covered 560 kilometres on skis or on foot and ascended over 40,000 metres (four and a half Everests) in the process! Six Professional Mountain Guides have written technical sections on Avalanches, Route Finding, Mountain Safety, First Aid etc. Nine other members of the group have made contributions. There are sections on equipment, clothing, food and fitness, getting started and technique. In fact, the book covers just about everything you need to know about ski-mountaineering and perhaps a few things you would probably prefer not to hear about!
